It has been said that it takes 21 short days to make or break a habit, so naturally I decided to look into it. I found that on average it actually takes over two months to create a new habit , which is daunting but absolutely doable. Below are a few of the changes that I have decided to make in my life for 2017, so far they have been exceedingly effective to a happy, healthy, and stress free new year. I look forward to a few of them becoming good habits.
7 habits to make 2017 spectacular
Find another space where you're comfortable
Find yourself a space where you can go and relax! It is really great to have a place to go and clear your head that isn't home, I spend time in cafes and in the gym when I want to relax. Finding solace is a space outside of the home can be theraputic, alone time is a valuable thing.
Plan outfits ahead of time
This may seem like a very minor habit, but if you're anything like me, theres a million things that you want to wear and sometimes trying to organize the perfect outfit in the morning can be stressful. Not having to worry about an outfit in the morning is a huge stress reliever, and I actually have come to enjoy creating my looks at night before bed.
This may seem broad, but creating goals for yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Creating goals gives you something to work towards and look forward to. Personally, I have realized that with acievable long and short term goals I want to push myself and work hard to achieve them, whereas when I didn't have goals for myself I felt like I was just floating through my life with no real direction.
Make a vision board
A vision board may seem pretty cheezy, but I guarantee you they are better than they sound. Every morning I wake up and look over at my vision board and it inspires me and reminds me of what I want to achieve. I dress mine up woth photos of loved ones, my goals, outfit inspiration, as well as quotes and words of wisdom. Use your own vision board to help reinforce some of your habits and keep you motivated to make 2017 the best it can be.
Keep a clean environment
In recent years I have realized that when my space is clutter free and clean, my life is way less stressful. When I come back from a day at school, or work, there is nothing better than walking into a clean room and crawling into a well made bed. Little things like trying to make your bed daily and cleaning out your closet are a good way to start creating cleanly habits.
Be proud of yourself, celebrate achievements
Don't be afraid to be proud of yourself, celebrate when you achieve something that you worked hard for!
See your problems as challenges
every problem that you face can be seen as a challenge that can affect your life in a positive way rather than a problem that can be seen as a detriment. So many lessons can be learned from the problems that you are faced with and learning to see them as positives is one of the best things any person can do for themselves.
